North west x-country

While most people spend this time of year getting stressed trying to think what presents to buy and fighting the hordes who descend on the shops, a much better way to spend a Saturday afternoon is to get out in the fresh air and run a cross country race.
That's exactly what 7 Pegasus AC runners decided to do anyway and a great afternoon was had by all!

The race in question was the north west x-country 6k that was held at Gransha and almost 80 runners turned up for the 3 lap event attracting a lot of talent from the running fraternity.

Weather conditions were great with no rain and only a slight breeze.Along with a very flat course this meant that from the off a fast pace was set and some of the more inexperienced runners would go away to fast and suffer near the end. Not so The Pegasus team, putting their great training into practice they all ran well paced runs with strong finishes all round.

First for the club to finish was Chris Denton in 23.03 with another fine run proving what a great chap he is! Harry Reilly was next, this man keeps getting faster and faster and with a time of 24.06 its only a matter of time before he catches up with his hero chris.
Peter Bell was 3rd clubman to cross the line running 25.39 and claiming 4th place in his age group.

Kyle Millar was next to finish 28.34, closely followed by Ralph Thom 28.47, both fairly new to racing these guys wisely worked together pacing each other round and both having pleasing runs.

First lady for the club was the ever improving .Tess McComb racing round the course in 29.55 and getting third place in her age group, all great practice for when she tackles her first marathon next year were she hopes to amaze us all with a magnificent time.
Our 2nd lady runner was Lorna Stynes, another athlete who is coming on leaps and bounds Lorna finished in 35.56 not only finishing 3rd in her age group but also taking 2 minutes off the time she ran at Coleraine last month.

The race was won by Brian Campbell of Willowfiel with Michelle Strum of Omagh Harriers taking the honors in the ladies category.

With Christmas almost here now is a good time to think about getting fitter so why not come along to Pegasus AC were we cater for all standards from beginner to expert, with a ladies only night also now running on Tuesdays.
