About Us

PEGASUS AC, COLERAINE

Pegasus AC, Coleraine was founded in 1982 and operates primarily from Coleraine Leisure Centre during the winter and Rugby Avenue Track during the summer months, although the Club will operate from other venues from time to time. The Club has 6 qualified UK Athletics coaches, namely Peter Crook a level 4 coach who coaches all events and is Head Coach to the Club; Wesley Gregg a level 2 coach covering speed events with Michael Henry together with recently qualified Shirley Park and Jason Wilson covering endurance with Alistair Kennedy covering jumps and throws. All of who are level 1 coaches.

Anyone aged from 11 years to whatever is welcome to join provided they are interested in getting involved either because they just wish to get fit or have an interest in any athletics discipline at any level.

The Club caters for all track and field events, cross country, road and mountain running at whatever standard so everyone is welcome to come and give us a try.

For anyone interested in road running a typical week would include a longish slow Sunday run, a quality Monday session which could include a 3 x 1 mile interval session or a hill session consisting of 4 – 8 sprints up a hill with a jog down, or a fartlek session which is a 5 – 6 mile run interspersed with jogging and sprinting. Tuesday would be a steady run of 5 – 9 miles, while Wednesday would be circuits in the winter or a track session in the summer. Thursday would be another steady run of between 8 – 12 miles with a rest on Fridays in preparation for a competition on Saturday.

To date the Club has had a number of athletes both junior and senior who have represented Northern Ireland at track & field, road and cross country competition.

During the summer months we have a strong track and field junior section with many athletes qualifying for the all Ireland Championships both for their school and the Club.

If you are interested in getting involved or have children who would like to try please feel free to contact either Peter Crook on 028 7035 6607 or 07711179131 or Michael Henry on 028 7035 5545 or 028 7034 1148.
